Preparing Well-Rounded Students for Lifelong Success

At our school, we are committed to creating an exceptional learning environment where every student feels safe, welcome, and valued. Our pastoral care system ensures that students receive the individualised guidance they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally throughout their school journey.

We also work closely with parents to provide the best possible support for each child’s growth and development. Together, we create an environment where every student can reach their full potential, build essential life skills, and prepare for a bright future.

Holistic Support from Pre-Nursery to Sixth Form

Early Years and Primary School

Early Years and Primary School

For younger students in the Infant and Junior departments, class teachers and Heads of Department are the first points of contact for guidance and support.

Younger children are nurtured in a caring and stimulating setting that fosters a love of learning, the development of essential life skills, foundational academics, and respect for others.

Secondary School

Secondary School

In the Secondary School section, a designated tutor oversees the academic and social welfare of their tutor group. Support is delivered through:

  • Daily tutor periods that begin each school day.
  • The PSHE (Personal, Social, Health & Economic Education) programme, which covers emotional well-being, ethical topics, and life skills.
  • Year group assemblies and sessions with visiting speakers.

Senior staff coordinate the PSHE programme and pastoral care across the school, ensuring that all aspects of student well-being are addressed.

Sixth Form

Sixth Form (Years 12 & 13)

Extensive support is provided to Sixth Form students as they prepare for university and future careers. This includes:

  • Individual guidance for transitioning to Higher Education and employment.
  • Visits to university fairs and opportunities to meet representatives from international universities in the UK, Spain, and beyond.
  • Staff training from top educational consultants on the latest trends in teaching and student support.

Building a Strong Community

We believe that a strong partnership between school and families is essential for every student’s success. King’s College Murcia fosters open and effective communication with parents through:

  • Regular newsletters, handbooks, calendars, and coffee mornings.
  • Written reports on individual student progress.
  • Parent-teacher consultation evenings and opportunities to meet with staff by appointment.

Families are also invited to attend celebratory events like Prize-Giving and Leavers’ Ceremonies, further strengthening the connection between home and school.

Student Well-Being Initiatives

Our pastoral and well-being teams ensure that all students' emotional and personal needs are met through tailored programmes, assemblies, and individual counselling sessions. Students are encouraged to develop respect, empathy, and resilience while forming meaningful relationships within the school community.

From their first day at King’s College, students are assigned to one of four houses. The house system fosters bonds across year groups through friendly competitions and collaborative projects, while helping students develop a wide range of essential life skills for future success, including leadership, teamwork, camaraderie, strategic thinking, and fair play. Older house members take on additional responsibility by mentoring and supporting younger students.

Older students are encouraged to become mentors, helping younger peers with challenging subjects or concepts. This mutually beneficial system fosters leadership skills, consolidates the mentors’ knowledge and learning, and builds confidence among all participants.
